Dragon Boat Festival: Family time and delicious zongzi

I used not to be a big fan of festive celebrations, but in recent years, I’ve grown to love and cherish each one. There’s something special about marking these occasions and creating memories with family and friends.

Yesterday was the Dragon time-honoured, a time-honoured tradition that I now look forward to every year.

The Dragon Boat Festival, also known as Duanwu Festival, has a rich history dating back over 2,000 years. It is celebrated on the fifth day of the fifth month of the lunar calendar. The festival commemorates the life and death of the famous Chinese scholar Qu Yuan, known for his patriotism and contributions to Chinese literature.

Traditionally, the festival is marked by dragon boat races, where teams paddle in sync to the beat of a drum, symbolising unity and strength.

Another important custom is eating zongzi, glutinous rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves, which come in various fillings and flavours. These traditions not only honour the past but also bring people together in celebration and camaraderie.

While I had a thrilling webinar session with Chloe, aka Arigato Investor, which was a lot of fun, I made sure to carve out time to celebrate with my husband.

Wondering what the webinar was about?

Chloe and I are working on a new project called My Dream Academy. We all know that there are many ways to cook an egg, just like there are numerous ways to grow wealth.

The difference between investing and growing a business is that the latter can be done with less money. As you grow your pot of gold from business, you park it into different investment vehicles to grow the wealth further.

It’s a cycle, really, so how do we start?

Here’s the secret…

And Chloe will be sharing it this coming Saturday, June 15, at 10am.

I spent the first half of my life learning, growing, scaling, and now, with Chloe, we’re going to give you the fast route.

Let’s aim to achieve freedom of time, wealth, location, and happiness together. And to prove that, Chloe was actually out of town during our AMA yesterday and will be again on the 15th.

My point?

After the webinar, my husband and I enjoyed some delicious zongzi together. I must admit, indulging in zongzi was definitely not part of my diet plan. But let’s call it a well-deserved cheat day! Interestingly, right after our meal, Ed went for a cycling session. His competitive spirit shone through as he often compared our weight loss numbers without even realising it.

This experience reminded me of why we work hard – to have the ability to experience life fully. If we spend all our time working and miss out on these special moments, then what’s the point?

As Michelle Hon wisely said, “We earn to spend,” and I couldn’t agree more. This philosophy has encouraged me to slow down and savour the moments that truly matter.

Although I haven’t reached the pinnacle of my career, I’ve found immense joy in slowing down and focusing on what makes me happy. Celebrating festivals like the Dragon Boat Festival has become an integral part of this journey.

I hope this inspires you to take a moment to celebrate, create memories, and cherish the time spent with your loved ones. Let’s embrace the balance between work and life and aim for freedom in time, wealth, location, and happiness together.
